Pro & Cons Of Blogging

If you are familiar with the internet, chances are that you have heard the term "blogging". Have you wondered whether or not blogging might be right for you? Before you decide, here are some key considerations to think about:
There are many advantages to blogging. Blogging helps you to convey messages easily. Instead of sending e-mails, SMS or calling your friends and colleagues personally, you can just post whatever you would like to tell them on your blog! For instance, my CCA, Girl Guides, has our own blog. The CCA leader would post announcements and the timeline for the next Guides session on the Guides blog. This is a very good way to announce things to a large group of people. Another advantage of blogging is that a lot of blogs are free and easy to set up. You can also make your blog personal. Your blog can include pictures of yourself and you can use it as a "online diary" and invite your family and friends to read your blog. The only difference of a blog and a diary is that unlike your diary, your blog would not be entirely personal even if you limit the people who have access to your blog.
Some of the disadvantages can be that maintaining a blog can be a lot of work and very time consuming. You have to constantly update and add new material in order to keep the flow of traffic to your blog and your current readers interested.
Another important thing to take note of, is to limit private details to avoid loss of privacy and security issues.
Only you know if blogging is right for you. You might not know until you try it out yourself. With all the free sites to sign up for a blog, getting started is easy. Once you start, you can better decide if you have the time and ability to keep it up and running. Good luck and happy blogging!

  1. I think that blogging helps us alot if it is for important projects or discussion. But if it is for wasting time, there is not much learning but there will be alot of time wasted.

  3. I totally disagree with Almas. We can have our personal blog and use it as an "online diary" as I have mentioned in my post earlier. This can help our family and friends to know us better. Blogging is not a waste of time at all!

  4. In reference to "Blogging helps you to convey messages easily," if a person doesn't read your blog, he/she still would not know the message. And if the message is more personal, SMS-ing, email-ing or calling would definitely be better!
We just have to make sure that the content posted on our blogs is appropriate.

  5. Yes, although I agree with Jean that sometime for urgent and private messages, blogging would not be a good idea. However, if we need to inform a large group of people something, it is unrealistic to call a few hundred people and repeat the same message over and over again like a broken record.

  6. I think that blogging helps alot and it is very fast. I prefer blogging to writing. But the bad thing is that when we post something on the internet, we cannot erase it. So we must watch out when using the internet and mostly social networking sites.
